Traditional IP transit requires a physical connection — a fiber handoff at a datacenter or an IX port — to receive internet routing from an upstream provider. Virtual IP Transit delivers the same thing, but entirely over the internet using encrypted tunnels.
With PiranhaLink, you connect to one of our Points of Presence via a WireGuard tunnel from wherever your network lives — a homelab, a cloud server, or a corporate edge router. Once the tunnel is up, we establish a BGP session over it and announce your leased IP space to the internet on your behalf. From the outside world, your network looks like any other BGP-speaking network with real, routable IP addresses.
The trade-off versus physical transit is latency and throughput — since your traffic rides the public internet to reach our PoP, path quality matters. But the upside is that anyone, anywhere can get real BGP transit without stepping foot in a datacenter.
No — that's exactly what we take care of for you. With PiranhaLink you lease both the IP address space and the BGP routing infrastructure directly from us. Your prefixes are announced to the internet under PiranhaLink's AS203202 — you don't need to register with any RIR (RIPE, ARIN, LACNIC, etc.) or obtain your own Autonomous System number. Simply connect to one of our PoPs via WireGuard and we handle the rest.
Leased IP addresses from PiranhaLink are tied exclusively to our Points of Presence. Your IP space is announced via BGP through our own infrastructure — you must be connected to at least one of our PoPs via a WireGuard tunnel for your addresses to be routable. This keeps routing integrity intact and ensures a consistent, reliable service for all customers.
